Getting the Force

"Midichlorians are microscopic lifeforms that resides in all living cells. We are symbionts living with them, life forms living together for mutual advanantage. Without midichlorians life could not exist and we would have no knowledge of the force. They continually speak to us, telling us the will of the Force. When you learn to quiet your mind, the midichlorians will speak to you."- Qui Gon Jinn

Almost everyone who joins a Star Wars role playing game has some distant wonder: can I be a Jedi?  They almost beg for it when they're new.  Unfortunately it might create general havoc and a lack of uniqueness if everyone had it.  Some role playing games restrict the number with a complicated selection process, some randomize it.

In Star Wars: Visions the selection process will be based on a Race Probability percentage and a randomized number.  The randomized number shall be generated by a non-bias java or else wise script to give it a firm standing in impartiality.

In addition, to insure activity of the new Force Users, we will not randomize the users until they have reached their fourth month in the simulation.  These four months must be spent actively taking part in the simulation.

At this time the Administration has decided, universally, to discontinue randomization of members until the population of the simulation grows.

Here is a list of Race Probabilities:

Human - 12%
Arconan - 7%
Barabel - 10%
Bith - 10%
Bothan - 9%
Cathar - 11%
Chiss - 4%
Devaronian - 7%
Dressellian - 8%
Duros - 7%
Falleen - 4%
Farghl - No Data On Species
Firrerreo - 6%
Gand - 12%
Geonosian - 8%
Gran - 9%
Gungan - 10%
Hutt - 0%
Ishi Tib - 6%
Ithorian - 12%
Kaminoan - 6%
Mon Calamari - 11%
Nautolan - 10%
Neimoidian - 7%
Noghri - 4%
Quarren - 11%
Rodian - 8%
Ryn - 8%
Sluissi - 9%

Squib - 8%
Sullustan - 10%
Togorian - 0%
Togruta - 9%

Toydarian - 0%
Trianii - 9%
Twi'lek - 11%
Verpine - 4%
Wookiee - 11%
Zabrak - 11%
Zeltron - 10%

Each character then has their random number drawn.  This number shall be drawn randomly between 1 and 100.  Once that number is given, it is taken down and compared to the Race Probability.  If the Random Number is less than or equal to the Race Probability, then the character is Force Sensitive.  If the Random Number is greater than the Race Probability, than the character is not Force Sensitive.

Example:

A Togruta has a Race Probability of 9%.  His randomly drawn number is 12.  He is not force sensitive.

If his randomly drawn number had been 1-9, then he would have been force sensitive.

How do we know?

Technically speaking, you don't know whether you're Force Sensitive or not.  Midichlorian tests are non-existent with any group in the current era, and are unheard of by the present generation.  You must be discovered by a current Force User with the "Sense Force In Another" skill.

The law shall be laid down clear - do not go begging Force Users for tests.  Test threads are prohibited explicitly.  Why?  Because generally you don't know they're Force Users nor do you care.  Remember, the Force is a hokey religion in the current age.  Most won't believe it at first.

How will the Force Users know if you are Force Sensitive?  If they interact with you they'll be able to look up your name on the list.  They shall have it and be sworn to secrecy on the issue.  Not all Force Users shall be able to know you are Force Sensitive.  Do not beg or ask them to check - it is their responsibility to check.  If they don't check, that means they are not paying attention to the people around them and thus have no idea if they're Force Sensitive.

Any Force User caught abusing their access to the list to discover more students will be punished.  Rushing around to grab every potential student is an obvious give away of such abuse.

Children of the Force Sensitive

Children lucky enough to be born to Force Sensitive families are not necessarily Force Sensitive themselves.  For reasons of fairness, children of Force Sensitive characters are declared to be normal, non-Force Sensitive children.  This status may change should a player chose to take on the persona of another's child on a permanent basis.  After meeting the requirements of activity, the person may then be rolled to determine if the character is Force Sensitive or not.

Switching Characters

Because people tend to bounce around their characters, sometimes making the past character an NPC, we must restrict it.  For instance, if a person makes a new character to get a new dice roll, that'd be unfair.  Therefore the previous character, regardless of results, becomes unplayable to insure the sanctity of changing characters.  If you choose to abandon an FS character for any reason to create a new character you also forfeit that character.
